One might wonder how to clean Levoit air purifier at home all by yourself. If you have a purifier, you should already know how quickly it accumulated dust all around itself. This is because the air all around us has dust particles in it. So, when the purifier pulls the air in, this dust falls on the housing of the purifier and stays there waiting prettily for you to clean it up.
And that is where you come in. You are required to clean up all this just very carefully so that it does not fall onto the filters because they could lose their efficiency under all that dust. Besides, you can not even wash the filters underwater either. But don’t worry about that because in the following article, I am about to explain all these things in detail. So, if all this sounds interesting to you then keep on reading the following article.
How To Clean Levoit Air Purifier
Step # 01: Unplug Your Air Purifier
First of all, you need to unplug your Levoit air purifier from the socket. This will effectively cut out the electricity supply to the purifier thereby, rendering it safe to be touched freely. On the other hand, if you don’t cut out the electricity supply, you can get seriously electrocuted while cleaning up the purifier. So, always unplug your machine before doing anything else. Step # 02: Check Up On The Filters
This is the technical part of cleaning up a Levoit air purifier. You are not supposed to wash out the filters no matter which type of filter you have installed. Instead, you are required to check out its lifespan as mentioned by the manufacturers, and get it replaced after it has expired. On average, a Levoit filter can easily run efficiently for up to eight months straight.
However, if you try to wash the filter, it could damage its thin membrane and make it lose its effectiveness. Plus, your filter could also get damaged due to any reason in which case you would have to get it replaced as well. So, what I would recommend you do is to keep a close eye on the health of your filters and get them replaced at the first signs of wear and tear.
Step # 03: Wipe your Purifier Clean
It is also very important to wipe off fine dust particles from the housing of your purifier because it could result in various hazards. The dust particles sitting on the purifier are so minute that these can result in a fire hazard if it keeps accumulating up to a dangerous level. This is the reason why you are advised to clean up the housing twice every month.
So, for that, you should not use any chemicals, water, or cleansers to clean the dust off. Simply take a small lint-free microfiber cloth and dip one small corner of this cloth into plain water. Wring out the unnecessary water from the cloth and use it to wipe off the dust.
Step # 04: Use An Old Dry Toothbrush To Get Deep Dust Out
If your purifier has accumulated dust in small corners or on the air vents, use a small hard toothbrush to get that dust-out. Don’t scrub the purifier hard rather do it very gently otherwise the surface would start to scratch.
Step # 05: Store The Filters When Not In Use
If you are certain that you will not be using your purifier for a couple of days or months, you are strongly advised to take out the filters and store them in sealed bags. This would keep the filters from wearing out needlessly.
